I'm a one man army

Design Justice is a web design firm based out of Camden, a little town in Sydney’s South-West. Well, I say firm but really it’s just me - my name’s Nathan. I’m a web designer, developer, phone answerer and coffee drinker. I’ve worked in the industry for several years and love what I do.

Tell me more.

Hello!

What I'm good at (and what I'm not)

I'm not Batman, but I do have a number of skills under my belt. Over the years, I have created many different web sites and web apps for my clients. These range from single page sites to large scale online stores. I'm also a registered Apple Developer and will soon be offering custom-built iOS apps. For a summary of my skills, check out this fancy graph:

Water

What's with the 'Justice' part of 'Design Justice'? Well I'm glad you asked, friend. I don't know if you know that about 1 in 8 people on Planet Earth don't have access to clean drinking water. This has all sorts of far-reaching consequences on the health of those affected.

"Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of diseases and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war." - Charity Water web site

It sucks and it shouldn't happen! When I first heard about the water crisis, I was simultaneously saddened, disgusted and drawn to action. At the time, I was working at a local web firm and decided to combine my desire to start my own venture and to try my best to make a difference. Design Justice was born. Years later, Design Justice is going strong and donates a chunk of the funds from every project to help build fresh water wells. Want to help out? Check out Charity Water.

XHTML

XHTML is the code behind almost all web sites. In fact, you're looking at it right now.

CSS

CSS is what adds visual flair to a web site. You can't have a good-looking web site without CSS.

Photoshop

This behemoth is used to create the mockups which eventually become web sites.

PHP

PHP is the brains behind a web site or application. PHP takes a static web site and makes it dynamic.

jQuery

jQuery is an incredibly powerful tool that, amongst other things, handles all of the fancy visual fx and interactivity.

iOS

iOS is what drives iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches. iOS powers all of the apps you know and love.

Flash

Flash has had its day. Its functionality will very soon be replaced by HTML 5 and jQuery. I no longer offer Flash development as a service.
